by summiting ur game asset to itchio, free or not, ur agreeing to their terms of service. so no if the owner does abuse copyright he will get in legal problems with itchio. also u agree to a royalty free license wether bought or free.. so no technically u dont own the maker of the art nothing(for example. no credits, no what game u made etc). but u can if u want to. u dont have to.
